Facilities Administration

The Division of Facilities Administration at the University of Miami coordinates, manages, and interfaces with the Departments of Facilities Planning and Construction, Physical Plant, and Energy Management to integrate building systems throughout the campuses. The singular goal of their division is to improve the overall appearance and environmental conditions of both the medical campus and south campus of the university.

Currently, the Medical and South Campuses are comprised of 37 buildings and include approximately two million square feet of space. Facilities Administration works with private and public organizations, such as Jackson Memorial Hospital and its Board of Trustees, the State of Florida, Metro-Dade County, the Agency for Health Care Administration, the Department of Environmental Research Management and the City of Miami.

The division is responsible for all the facilities' budgeting and implementation relating to building operations, utilities, and construction renovations. Additionally, it manages the medical and south campuses' Capital Assets Management Program. As a part of that program, the division makes recommendations to the University leadership of all facilities renewal deficiencies and required building upgrades. This includes the gambit of roof replacements to air conditioning retrofits.

In addition to maintaining the appearance and safe environmental conditions throughout the campuses, Facilities Administration manages all facilities related to disaster planning management. This includes storms, hurricane events, fires and terrorism, as well as many others.
